Befor starting I have to apologize for mistakes I've done and I'll eventually do during this text, but you know, it's already hard enough to write in our mother language, imagine in another one... :-)
Well lets get straight to the point. This weekend I was watching a TV show called "Border Security" which tells a number of different stories about people trying to smuggle goods into the country, suspect passangers and also illigal workers, and that last one called my attention.
At that time no Brazilians citizen was caught, however it reminded me of a number of people from our country that will try to succeed somewhere else in the world as an illigal immigrant. Also at the same day I read in a Brazilian website about a Brazilian man (sorry can't remember his name now) which is in illigal situation in USA and is walking from Florida to Washington to deliver a letter to Mr. Obama requesting people in a specific situation to be granted with The possibility to achieve a "green card".
I have to confess that I have a lot of respect for these people, they definitly are hard workers and not afraid of fighting for their dreams, however at the same time I feel a bit angry with them because of the fact that generally speaking our own people "give their blood" for someone else's nation, but never really tried hard enough at our own. I know this type of generalizarion is quite dangerous, but that's how I fell quite often.
Living overseas has given me lots of opportunities, to develop myself not only professionaly but personally, and gave me the chance of meeting all kind of people, many Brazilians that live abroad for the most differentiated reasons.
Specially in regards to some of my nation brothers I have a mixed feeling, at the same time I have a lot of respect for their stories I feel disapointed for the way they refer back to our country, as a place with no way to fix.
I am well aware of Brazil's issues like violence, poor education, poverty all over, but at the same time we have positive aspects like strong and growing economy, companies laking of specialized labour (which of course is not a good thing in general terms but it means that there are open positions in the market), a broad open field for development as our country infrastructure needs to be a lot improved and can boost lots of different sectors of the economy not only in the main cities, but in great majority in the vast areas of the nation that need development.
So my message here, which is a lot more a protest is for all of us to consider to dedicate our best efforts and energy to make our nation better, not bigger, but better in terms of equality, wealth sharing (not through "Bolsa Família" but better basic education system) leading to a more peaceful and stable society.
I'll be back soon and will engage myself to do my bit!
I'm sure I'm not alone!
